An Eau Claire man is in custody after a high speed chase ended Sunday between Stanley and Boyd.
Andre Simmons, age 44 of Eau Claire, was taken into custody at mile marker 100 on State Highway 29 eastbound Sunday afternoon after reportedly leading State Patrol on a chase that reached speeds of 117 miles per hour. State Patrol initiated the chase after seeing a vehicle involved in a felony robbery involving firearms in Eau Claire, the driver of which had fled from law enforcement. Four people had reportedly been removed from the vehicle prior to the driver fleeing the scene, which flipped on its side opposite after successful deployment of an intercept maneuver by law enforcement.
Following apprehension Simmons was transported to a local hospital for reportedly minor injuries following the crash at 3:18 p.m., being held in the Chippewa County Jail as of Monday night.
Assisting agencies seen on site with the State Patrol at the crash site included Stanley, Cadott, and the Chippewa County Sheriff.
The vehicle was removed by a local towing company.
