Northwestern Bank Celebrates 25 years in Boyd

The Boyd branch will celebrate 25 years being part of Northwestern Bank on May 10, 2024.
Twenty-five years ago, Northwestern Bank president, Jerry Jacobson, was sitting in his car waiting for his son’s swim meet to begin and working on paperwork for the Federal Reserve to purchase the bank on Murray Street in Boyd. On May 10, 1999, with all the necessary information filed, the location became a branch of Northwestern Bank.
Northwestern Bank, founded in 1904, is based in downtown Chippewa Falls and includes branches in Boyd, Cornell, Thorp, Lafayette, and River Prairie in Altoona.
The Boyd location has a long history within the town. Originally the State Bank of Boyd, founded in 1903, it was purchased by First National Bank in 1985, then became Valley Bank in 1990. It was merged and operated as M&I Community Bank from 1994 until it became part of Northwestern Bank in 1999.
President Jerry Jacobson states “Twenty-five years ago Northwestern Bank became a part of the community of Boyd. Since then, we have worked hard to have a positive impact in the area by giving back and supporting local events. Thank you to our customers for doing business with the bank and we look forward to being a part of the Boyd community for many more years to come.”
“Building Stronger Communities Where People Matter” is the mission for Northwestern Bank, and that mission is brought to life by the community service and support that is a part of the bank’s culture. Locally, the bank has supported many community events and organizations. In town they supported the concession stand at Lotz Park along with the recently completed T Ball field. They donated to St Joseph’s school playground equipment and have supported the school’s annual golf outing. The bank sponsors Boyd Ringelspiel Days, the annual Corn Feed, and supports the Boyd, Edson, Delmar Fire and Ambulance departments. In addition to events, the Bank has contributed to many local organizations such as the Boyd Lions Club, Stanley Rodeo, Stanley-Boyd Schools and the Alumni Association, and the Stanley Boyd American Legion.
Toni Luzinski, Boyd branch lead, has been with the Boyd bank since before it was Northwestern Bank. She says it’s wonderful to have such a great bunch of customers. “We have a great camaraderie with our customers. We know many of them well and can help with issues that come up. It’s nice to have that personal connection that enables us to provide exceptional customer service.”
To celebrate 25 years of service, the Boyd branch will have opportunities for the community to sign up for drawings, share memories of banking at Northwestern Bank in Boyd, and enjoy some treats throughout the week of May 6 through 10. Please stop in and help them celebrate!
