PIERCE COUNTY Accident Reports
Deputies were notified of a one-vehicle rollover crash at 4:11 a.m. Dec. 1 that had occurred at 10:30 p.m. Nov. 30 on Highway 35 one-third mile east of 113th Avenue in the town of Maiden Rock. A 2004 Saturn Ion, driven by Trevor James Holst Sr., 39, Hager City, was heading south on Highway 35 when it left the road, struck a guardrail end, entered the ditch, overturned and started on fire. Holst, who wore a seat belt, reported suspected minor injuries but was not transported by EMS. The vehicle had to be towed due to disabling damage. Holst was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control.
Officers responded at 5:36 a.m. Dec. 1 to a one-vehicle crash at 560th Avenue and County Road O in the town of Trimbelle. A 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Korey Paul Jelinek, 43, Bay City, was heading north on County Road O south of 560th Avenue. Jelinek said he swerved to miss a deer, struck a guardrail face on the north side of 560th and came to rest facing north in the north ditch. Jelinek, who wore a seat belt, reported no injuries. The vehicle had to be towed due to disabling damage.
Police responded to a debris vs. vehicle crash at 312 p.m. Dec. 4 on US Highway 10 just east of 45th Street in the town of Union. A 2008 Nissan Pathfinder, driven by Leann Kay Seipel, 36, Durand, was traveling in the inside lane while heading eastbound on Highway 10 when suddenly, something hit the windshield. The damage to the windshield was the size of a basketball. A witness said a piece of snow or ice flew off the top of a semi and hit the Nissan’s windshield. The semi was not located nor the driver identified. Seipel, who wore a seat belt, reported no injuries. Three passengers in the vehicle, ages 3, 9 and 6 months, wore proper child restraints and were unharmed. The vehicle couldn’t be driven safely due to the windshield damage, but no damage was witnessed elsewhere.
Officers responded to a onevehicle rollover crash at 7:50 a.m. Dec. 5 on Highway 29 just east of 850th Street in the town of River Falls. A 2004 Volvo S60, driven by Fernando Lambert, 27, River Falls, was heading west on Highway 29, which was icy due to an overnight storm. He was traveling 55 mph when he lost control going around a corner, crossed the center line, entered the ditch and rolled onto the top. Lambert wore a seat belt and reported no injuries. The vehicle had to be towed due to disabling damage.
Police responded to a onevehicle crash at 5:44 p.m. Dec. 5 on County Road O one-third mile north of 570th Avenue in the town of Trimbelle. A 2011 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Zachary Joseph Peterson, 16, Ellsworth, was traveling south on County Road O near N5894 County Road O. Peterson said he saw a deer in the field to the east. He then drifted off the roadway, entered the west ditch, jumped over a driveway entrance at N5865 County Road O and came to rest in some brush and trees just south of the last address. Peterson, who wore a seat belt, reported no injuries. The vehicle had to be towed due to disabling damage.
Deputies responded to a one-vehicle crash at 10:06 a.m. Dec. 7 at US Highway 10 and County Road CC in the town of Union. A 2017 Ford Escape, driven by Erich Anthony Black, 36, Houston, Minn., was traveling westbound on US Highway 10. An unidentified semi was making a lefthand turn onto County Road CC and didn’t signal its turn. Black said he swerved to the right to avoid striking the semi. He instead struck two sign posts and a cable support wire for a power pole and came to rest in the northbound ditch facing west. The semi left the scene. Black wore a seat belt and reported no injuries. The vehicle had functional damage.
Officers responded to a vehicle vs. tree crash at 11:47 a.m. Dec. 7 on 190th Street half-mile north of 350th Avenue in the town of Union. A 2021 Hyundai Elantra, driven by Michael Jon Heil, 41, Eau Claire, was eastbound on 370th Avenue. When he attempted to negotiate a right-hand, downhill turn on the snow packed roadway, the vehicle continued into the ditch, where it struck an electrical power box and collided head-on with a tree, causing heavy front-end damage. The vehicle had to be towed, but Heil wore a seat belt and reported no injuries. He was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control.
Police responded to a twovehicle crash at 2:41 p.m. Dec. 10 at US Highway 10 and 570th Avenue in the town of Oak Grove between a 2011 UPS truck, driven by Josh Robert Wickum, 52, Menomonie, and a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Olatunde Fasasi, 41, Ellsworth. Wickum was heading westbound on Highway 10 and Fasasi was behind him. When Wickum started to slow down to turn onto 570th Avenue, Fasasi attempted to stop but slid due to road conditions. Wickum saw Fasasi sliding and tried to pull over, but Fasasi struck the UPS truck. Both drivers wore seat belts and reported no injuries. Both vehicles had minor damage.
Officers responded to a onevehicle crash at 10:14 a.m. Dec. 11 on 490th Street onethird mile north of 330th Avenue in the town of Hartland. A 2017 Ford Escape, driven by Deliala Lee Carleton, 40, Ellsworth, was traveling southbound on 490th Street when it crossed the centerline, entered the east ditch and struck a bridge rail. Carleton, who wore a seat belt, reported no injuries. The vehicle had functional damage to the hood and a cracked front gate. Melstrom’s pulled it out of the ditch, but it was drivable.
