Intek, Lindberg, Johnson up for Chamber awards

The I tastings Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual dinner Thursday, Jan. 20, from 5:30 – 8 p.m. at the Hastings Golf Club.

The theme of the events “We’re Jazzed To Be Back!” The evening includes a social hour, dinner and awards.

This year’s award recipients arc: Hastings Business of the Year – Intek Plasties. The chamber event promotion states, “Congratulations to the entire team at Intck Plastics on being name Hastings Business of the Year! Intek Plastics is a local and industry leader when it comes to training and employee development. They have leveraged partnerships to create an array of learning opportunities to advance their stalY and better serve their clients. Recently, they were recognized with Biz Library Training Program of the Year award.’’

Volunteer of the year is Katy Lindberg of Fanners Insurance Agency, “We are excited to announce Katy Lindberg with Famers Insurance Lindberg Agcncy as the 2021 Volunteer of the Year! Katy has served in leadership roles on numerous service organizations throughout the community including the Hastings Family Service board, Hastings Chamber board and Hastings Rotary board. She is also an active member of the Rivertown Days planning committee and the Downtown Business Association's Classic Car Show committee. Katy's passion for the community shows through her vol unteer work,” the chamber stated.

Hastings High School Principal Mike Johnson will win the Educator of the Year Honor, “Hastings High School principal, Mike Johnson has won Educator of the Year for 2021! The se- lection committee received SEVERAL nominations for Mr. Johnson from teachers and parents highlighting his strong leadership skills, kind and approachable manner and ability to left spirts when staff, parents and students need it the most. Qualities that stood out from his staff include his ability to stay engaged, be empathic and face challenges head on with a compassionate lens. Congratulations Mike Johnson on winning Educator of the Year!”

Two new awards will be given out this year, Emily’s Bakery, which recently closed, is being honored with the Legacy Award, “Emily's Bakery and Deli served and brought joy to the Hastings Community for over 100 years. The Hastings Cham- ber is honored to celebrate their long-time success with a Legacy Award,' according to the chamber.

The Front-Line Heroes Aw'ard will go to Allina Health/Regina Hospital. “Join us in celebrating the incredible w'ork our hospital and clinics have done over the past few years. We are all hopeful 2022 will bring positive change to this global pandemic, in the meantime, let's thank and recognize our local health care system and the care givers that fight on the front lines every day,” the chamber statement reads.
