Philip Meixner 1974-2022

Philip Alan Meixner, age 47, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 3, 2022.

Phil was Born May 21, 1974 to Daniel and Lynda Meixner. He was later joined by his sister Kristin. They grew up in Bay City, Wis.

He graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1992. After high school Phil attended Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, Wis., where he obtained a degree in Law Enforcement. His goal was to serve our community. Phil worked at the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department from 2003-2018 and during that time he held many roles, including Pa- trol Of.cer, Jailer, COPS of.cer, Rec Patrol, and his most treasured position of Dispatcher. He also served for a time on the Ellsworth Area Ambulance. At the time of his death, he was working as an Auditor/Trainer for the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension in St. Paul, Minn. Phil was married to Bailey Alessandro and they resided together in Minneapolis, Minn., along with their loving and supportive friends and LGBTQ+ community.

Philip was preceded in death by his mother Lynda, and grandparents Charles and Virginia Hetrick and Beulah Schutz. He is survived by his wife Bailey Meixner of Minneapolis, Minn., father Daniel Meixner of Hager City, Wis., sister Kristin Witham of Lake City, Minn., niece Lydia and nephew Ian along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Philip loved life and was always a joy to be around.

He was one of the most giving humans we have known.

He loved hanging out with friends and his dogs. Having dedicated his life to the communities in which he lived, he leaves a long-lasting legacy. His loss will be felt by his family, the many people he served with at the Sheriff’s Department and on EMT teams, as well as his friends and co-workers. Phil was a big part of the Human Rights Community in Minneapolis, where he was an important and passionate advocate for gay rights and equality. His impact on everyone around him was big, and we all feel a tremendous loss.

Bailey will be having a service in Minneapolis, Minn.

A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 12- 4 p.m. at the Pepin Sportsman’s Club in Pepin, Wis.
