Senior Gathering Place News

PRESCOTT – Well if you blinked last week, you missed spring on Friday and Saturday! And summer has already put in an appearance with warm, humid temperatures and storms. Sigh! At least the daffodils, tulips, forsythia bushes and rhododendron bushes have been beautiful. Coming next week to the Senior Gathering Place, located at 1220 St. Croix St., Door 5, are the following activities. Tuesday, May 17: Join us for a fun dice game, “Left, Right, Center.” Bring some dimes with you and have some good laughs and fun. Also on Tuesday, players will be there to play Whist, a card game that several are learning thanks to Roger Hulne. Wednesday, May 18: 9 a.m. is pickleball and walking (may be outdoors). This is also the last Wednesday morning for Senior Cardio Strength (11-11:30 a.m.) and for Chair Yoga (11:35 a.m. to 12:05 p.m.) OurYMCAinstructor will be taking a break until classes resume in September. When you come Wednesday you can receive guest passes from Tracy for the exercise classes at the YMCA in Hastings. Euchre, Bridge and any card games continue this Wednesday from 12:30- 3:30 p.m. Thursday,May19:Movieandpopcornat1p.m. “A Walk in the Woods” is the title this month. Yes, it is the movie version of the book we read last month about hiking the Appalachian trail. Please note that the following week we will only be open on Tuesday, May 24 for book club (“Thief River Falls” by Brian Freeman) and Wednesday, May 25 for morning pickleball and walking. Then Wednesday afternoon for cards. Gathering Place will be closed Thursday, May 26 and Tuesday, May 31 for Memorial Day weekend.
