Kings and queens
To the editor,
This is prom season for schools. Local newspapers show photos of the proms’ kings, queens, and courts of attendants. This is annoying to me. It smacks of aristocracy and elitism.
The same is true for homecoming. To select out a few on the basis of looks or popularity for special honor is to put down others. Is this a tradition we should continue? These events should be for all people, the students of the school, regardless of popularity, whether with a date, or gender identification.
