Blood donors are needed to finish filling the appointment schedule for the Stanley-Boyd Community Red Cross Blood Drive on October 14, 12 to 6 pm at the Stanley Community Center. There is a need for power red donors since most of those slots are still open. Whole blood donors are also needed, including those who want to donate and are willing to be on a waiting list in case of cancellations.
A recent decline in blood donations may soon make it tough to keep blood products stocked on hospital shelves. We need all eligible donors to come forward and give at the upcoming blood drive.

If you are in doubt as to whether you are eligible to donate blood because of having tested positive for COVID, or had one or more symptoms, please call the Red Cross medical question number at 1-800-733-2767. Please read the following donor screening questions below that all donors answer in the RapidPass or at the blood drive.
The donor screening questions are: 1) In the past 28 days, have you had any symptoms of COVID-19 or been diagnosed with or suspected of having COVID-19 infection?
2) In the past 28 days, have you had a positive diagnostic test (for example, nasal swab test) for COVID-19 but you never developed symptoms?
3) In the past 28 days, have you cared for, lived with, or otherwise had close contact with individuals with or suspected of having COVID-19 infection?
4) You are currently instructed to quarantine for any reason.
If you respond yes to any of these questions, you will be deferred for 28 days. Again, if you have any doubts or concerns, please call the medical question number above.
We need to fill the appoint – ment schedule and keep it filled in order to reach our goal. Due to staff shortages, there are less available slots for this drive, and your help is needed to keep blood products stocked on hospital shelves.
