SCA’s light competition covered Stanley in holiday spirit
The Stanley Community Association has hosted the “Light up the City” competition for the past two years. This year eight residential and nine businesses entered the competition. “It is always so much fun to see the displays and to see how much time they put into their displays!” said SCA President Kristi Weiland. This year more than 800 votes were counted; cash prizes were awarded to the top three residential displays. 3rd Prize was given to Karissa Liebersbach and family for thier display at 516 N. Franklin Street. 2nd Place was awarded to Jerry Dirkes for his display at 711 Madison Street. The first place winner for the second year was Mark Burzynski and family at 811 N. Franklin Street they were given a cash prize and a yard sign. The business participants had beautiful displays as well; taking first place was Stanley VFW Post 2711/ Legion Post 112. The patriotic holiday display was designed by Marthamae Kottschade; she incorporated lights and inflatables to make the Veteran’s Memorial Park at 101-133 S Broadway St stand out from the rest. Honorable mentions in the business category were Modern Beauty and Oemig’s Sport Shop. On behalf of the Stanley Community Association we thank everyone who took the time to participate; we look forward to making this a Stanley tradition.
