The Stanley Council approved the purchase of a storage shed from Hixwood for the Stanley Police Department for $11,000. Addressing the Council, Police Chief Lance Weiland mentioned that the current garage is “jampacked with stuff.” He shared that shopping around they found a 14x28 classic garage that would match the aesthetics of the current City Hall and Police Department building. “It would help get out a bunch of that stuff that we have in the garage.” The building will be placed along the north side of the police department garage and will house various items including a lawn mower, fundraiser items, totes, shooting targets, and trailers. Alderperson Jacob Huff mentioned that he was approached about it last month and he told them, “It is pretty cramped in there. I said, ‘Yeah, go shop around.’ It was a good idea.” Chief Weiland mentioned that the garage will be purchased with donation funds, but it will be five or six weeks before it is built.
