Former Water Operator Don Goettl was hired as the new Water Consultant by the City Council on Monday night, August 5, as the Council unanimously approved the decision requested by current Water Operator Dan Demske. Goettl was hired at $50 an hour for maximum of twenty hours to help Demske with ozone calibrations. Some items specifically mentioned for Goettl’s assistance were helping with ozone replacement, CIP processes, the RO system, yearly audit and quarterly paperwork and billing issues, and some DNR compliance forms. This decision is in addition to the employee wage increase approved by the Council for various city employees pending anniversary dates and passing certifications.
The Council approved a Maple Street Force Main Project to be engineered by CBS2. Mayor Mike Henke said the forced main on Maple Street would be replaced and redoing the road from McKnight Street to Urquhart, the forced main would be replaced, the sewer that’s in there would be replaced and there are some hydrants without valves that would be replaced. He explained that this would start the process for them to get numbers to see what it’s going to cost to complete that project.

The Council approved a $4,500 proposal from Abe Concrete to repair the sidewalk, curb and gutter in front of Harris Chiropractic. The City of Stanley will pay $2,970 and Harris Chiropractic will cover $1530 with a six-month payback period.
A 2024-2025 LP contract with Chippewa Valley Energy with a price of $1.599 per gallon was approved at the Monday evening meeting. Alderperson Mark Fitzsimmons stated that this is for the standby tank at Chapman Park. “It’s based on 80% usage last year that is an initial fill. My personal belief is that we probably won’t be using those gallons at all.”
Maggie Keeku has been hired as Deputy/Clerk Treasurer and Police Administrative Assistant effective August 8.
