The Stanley-Boyd Area School District will hold a budget hearing Monday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. in the Stanley-Boyd High School Library.
Spread across 11 separate taxation districts, the 2026-27 local school levy is proposed at $5.32 per thousand, representing a six cent drop compared with last year, when the rate was set at $5.38 per thousand. The levy seeks to raise $4.165 million locally for the overall district budget, with the remainder of the balance coming from federal, state, and intermediate sources.
District residents can calculate their individual school tax levy contribution by taking their property’s taxable assessed value, dividing this by 1,000 and then multiplying it by the proposed mill rate to obtain an estimate of their school tax.
Overlapping but separate tax jurisdictions potentially affecting individual tax bills include the county, city, special purpose, and technical school taxes, with homeowners encouraged to check each line item on their tax bill for individual figures by taxing jurisdiction.
Included in the district budget as proposed meanwhile are $17,832,445.27 in general fund revenues and other financing sources, balanced against $17,941,812.92 in expenditures. Also included are $2,460,904.62 in special projects fund revenues, $590,000 in capital projects fund revenues, $976,172 for the food service fund, and $317,132 for the community service fund, balanced against expenditures of $2,444,502.62 in special projects fund revenues, $3,150,000 in capital projects fund revenues, $976,172 for the food service fund, and $244,709 for the community service fund. No revenues or expenditures are included for either debt service or the package and cooperative program fund, both at zero dollars.
Gross total expenditures for the 2026-27 district budget are $24,757,196.54, including $1,857,166 from interfund transfers, for a net total expenditures figure of $22,900,030.54. The difference relates to payment schedules for the district entrance paid out of fund 46 capital improvement savings, the fiscal year running from July 30 to July 1.
Once again, the district budget hearing is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m. in the Stanley-Boyd High School Library. The public is invited and welcome to attend.
