Henke holds first meeting as Mayor

Alderperson Mark Fitzsimmons appointed to Council President

New Mayor Mike Henke called his first meeting to order while Aaron Dickson began his first night as Alderperson at the organizational meeting held on April 15. This is the fourth term as Stanley Mayor for Henke who previously served as mayor from 2012 to 2017. Dickson accepted the position of the Ward 4-7, 9 Alderperson of the city of Stanley after receiving thirteen votes as a write in candidate at the Spring 2024 election. At the Monday evening meeting, council members voted for the council president choosing Alderperson Mark Fitzsimmons for a one-year term after he received four paper ballot votes. In case of a mayoral vacancy or disability, the council president exercises all powers and discharges all duties of the mayor.
Council members were then appointed by Henke to the following committees:
Finance Committee comprised of Jacob Huff, Mark Fitzsimmons and Josh Seidl
Parks and Cemetery Committee comprised of Ben Wald, Laurie Foster, and Jason Meyer
Health and Sanitation Committee comprised of Laurie Foster, Jason Meyer, and Ben Wald, Police and Fire Committee comprised of Aaron Dickson, Laurie Foster and one vacant seat
Personnel Committee comprised of Josh Seidl, Jacob Huff and one vacant seat
Public Works, Streets, and Grounds Committee comprised of Jason Meyer, Josh Seidl, and Mark Fitzsimmons
Zoning and Ordinance Committee comprised of Aaron Dickson, Jacob Huff, and a vacant seat
City Buildings Committee comprised of Mark Fitzsimmons, Ben Wald and Aaron Dickson.
Current Plan Commission members are Jacob Huff, Mark Fitzsimmons, James Ericksen, Rick Denzine, David Jankoski, Jason Isenberger, and Mayor Mike Henke.
Henke appointed Bowmar Appraisal as the town assessor, Bill Chwala as the Building Inspector, and Ethan Young as the Health Officer pending his acceptance. Weld Riley, a law firm with locations in Eau Claire, Menomonie, Black River Falls and Wausau, was voted as the City’s Attorney and Stanley Police Chief Lance Weiland is the weed commissioner.
Ward 3 Alderperson in Stanley is currently vacant after Henke accepted the position as Mayor of Stanley.
