Man remembers local businesses

Posted

Dear Editor:
I am writing in regards to some places of historical significance in the Stanley area.In the April 4th issue it gave some outlining of the businesses that were there. Even though there were some examples like Halterman’s wrecking yards, Bob Volk barbershop, Plombon’s Funeral Service, Longs Market, Falls Dairy Co., F and M Bank, Huberty’s Service Garage, Farmers Store, UBC Building Center, Victory Memorial Hospital, C. W. Dodge School, Isaacs Implement LaGrander’s Hillside Dairy, plus Stanley IGA. And even though I was born in Stanley in the late 50s, attended the old Dodge School, oh yes one more Stanley Theater. Dr Flaten’s Dentistry, Gayle Bivans, Fred Seefeldt. I hope this is very helpful, Chippewa County Highway Department, Oemig’s Sporting Shop. Jeff Frazee’s Gamble Store! Strover’s Implement, Yellowstone Implement.

Thanks again,
Frank Thill
