After receiving lawn care bids at the April 8 monthly meeting, the Town of Edson board voted to continue with Schuebel Lawn Services for the 2024 season at a cost of $35 per mow/trim at the Edson Town Hall property. The fully insured family-owned lawn care service has been providing lawncare services at the Edson Town Hall property for the past three years and included a letter with their bid thanking the township for their business and for their consideration for mowing, trimming, and cleaning of driveways and sidewalks for the township in the upcoming season.
Supervisor Jim Junker asked, “So Schuebels been doing it for the last three years? Any issues with it?”
City Clerk Marie Wilbur answered that in her experience Schuebel Lawn Services does a good job and works in a timely manner.
“They’ve been really good,” said Supervisor George Wellner.
Chairman Dan Pilgrim agreed, “It seems like they did a good job in the past.”
Other bids opened at the meeting included a bid from Roshell Lawn Care for $65 per mow/trim and a bid from Clean Cut at $29 per mow/trim.
Pilgrim told the meeting attendees that the Boyd Edson-Delmar Fire Department purchased thirteen air packs to replace the outdated ones at a cost of approximately $128,000.
“They’ll go in service as soon as they get trained on them,” he explained. He added that they were purchased with $30,000 in donation money and the rest was used out of the ambulance savings accounts. “So, the townships don’t have to come up with any extra money right now for that.”
“Do the old air packs have any value anywhere?” an Edson resident asked. Pilgrim answered that they are obsolete and can’t be recertified.
The Town of Edson annual meeting will take place on April 16 at 7 p.m.. After that, the next regular board meeting is scheduled for May 13 at 7 p.m.
