Sunday, April 28 was a special day in Boyd. Converging on the Boyd Fire Station from 11 a.m to 2 p.m, local residents could choose 1/2 chicken dinner for $15, a two brat dinner for $10, Brat and chips combo for $6, hotdog and chips for $4, with soda $1. Dinner was served up by the firefighters and included potato salad, baked beans, cheese curds, bread, pickle, bar, coffee and milk.
“I know we served almost 700 meals,” Boyd-Edson-Delmar Fire Chief Ron Patten said of the annual event. Patten was not sure of the amount raised, but expected to know soon.
With silent auction accompanying the dinner, those making dinner donations to the 31st Charcoal Chicken and Brat dinner included LaGrander’s Dairy of Stanley, Bush’s Bean in Augusta, Rozwadowski Harvesting of Stanley, Ken and Connie Zimmerman of Boyd, the Village Haus, Boyd Catering, and everyone who donated desserts for the bake sale.
