Noon Call for Prayer to Begin Christmas Day
Beginning on Christmas Day and continuing until Epiphany, Christians are invited to answer a noon call to prayer. In the Cadott-Stanley- Thorp area the ringing of church bells at noon on these days, and possibly the sounding of sirens, will serve to remind all wishing to participate in the noon prayer time.
This phase of Key 73 will be a time for daily dedication and prayer for the goals of “calling our continent to Christ.” The joining of thousands in prayer at noon each day is seen as a way to ask God for guidance, strength, and inspiration for the program.
Each person is asked to pray at noon, wherever he or she is, whether at home, work, school, or play, alone or with the family.

Many Sections in this week’s Republican
This week’s Stanley Republican is printed in several small sections—don’t lose any of them.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to print the bigger sections—that is, put more pages in each section—and the result is the many-sectioned newspaper you are holding in your hand.
We hope to have the difficulty remedied within a short time, as we realize it is inconvenient keep track of a number of four-page sections.

Holiday warning: Drive Carefully!
Will you be home for Christmas?
“That depends in part on how you drive between now and Christmas,” declared R. C. Salisbury, Director of the safety division, motor vehicle department today.
“Some motorists in our state won’t be alive to celebrate the year’s most beloved holiday, for they’ll die in automobile tragedies. Already this year at least 800 persons have met death on Wisconsin streets and highways,” Salisbury commented.
NOTICE We will be closed from 6:00 p.m. Christmas Eve through Christmas Day. Nellie’s Cafe

Orioles Lose to Thorp by Narrow Margin
Fast and Furious Basketball Played as Stanley Loses Tilt to Their Old-Time Rivals
This contest was like all Thorp vs. Stanley games. It was surely fast and furious. The fouling down by Stanley resulted in their downfall. The score was 10 to 3 at the end of the quarter and 20 to 10 at the half. In the second half Thorp got started to really click. The score grew closer and closer as time slowly ticked away. It was 25 to 18 after three quarters, and with 15 seconds to play, Papierniak, Thorp’s star forward, dropped a long shot. Scoring honors went to him on Thorp’s team with 13, and to Their of Stanley who earned 12.
