A family is safe after a Wednesday morning fire left their residence partially gutted at 215 East Patten Street.
Boyd-Edson-Delmar Fire Chief Ron Patten filled in the details on the fire Wednesday August 24.
“When we arrived on scene we had heavy fire and smoke coming out of two exterior doors,” he said, saying that Stanley and Cadott assisted the Boyd-Edson-Delmar department in extinguishing the blaze. “We know it started on the exterior of the house on the eastside, possibly from shop rags but not certain yet.” Patten said the shop rags had been in a trash can outside the residence.
As to damage, Patten said that a vehicle had been damaged as well as the house, from the heat. He predicted the house would be a total loss.
The house is registered at Chippewa County GIS to Jeremiah and Brittany Sanchez, while Patten said everyone got out okay in terms of the human toll.
“Everyone got out ok,” he said.
