Alumni Association kicks off planning for the 2024 reunion

Meeting on Monday, November 6, the Stanley-Boyd Alumni Association Board of Directors set in motion planning for the 12th Annual Reunion, to be held on Saturday, October 4, 2024. The 7 pm meeting was held at the Stanley Area Historical Society with President Ken Seufzer presiding. There were 12 members attending in person or by phone. Board Members welcomed new Board member Joanne Knox Coddington, Class of 2000 and thanked her for her willingness to serve. It was noted that the Association now has a full Board.

After the formal approval of the minutes from the Annual meeting and of the Board’s meeting following the Annual Meeting, Treasurer, Rose Wellner Ebert presented the Association’s Third Quarter report and the proposed Budget for 2024. Both reports were approved as presented.

Discussions included noting that the Class of 1964, will serve as hosts for the 2024 Reunion and that prices for both a chicken dinner and a roast beef dinner will be obtained. A decision will be made at the next meeting, as to which option will be selected. Approved was the Association again donating $2,000 towards a school designated project, the awarding of three $1,500 scholarships to 2024 graduates, and advertising in the Stanley Republican newspaper. Another scholarship will also be available from the Class of 1973. Class of 1960 members Diane Herrick Meyer and Alvina Hera Depa, were thanked for their years of handling Memorial Recognition’s at the Annual Reunion. Rose Ebert volunteered to take over this task.

There was extended discussions on the Alumni Directory, use of E-mail to send invitations, keeping the Alumni Directory current and consolidation of family/martial names to prevent double mailings, use of Facebook, ability in the future to make direct payments to the Association, etc. The expertise of Lyle Swartz, Barb Endvick Johnson and Pam Jankoski Parker will continue to explore and implement these endeavors when practical.

Election of officers for 2024 included Jean Geist Rygiel, President; Lyle Swartz, Vice-President; Nancy Hendrickson Schaurette, Secretary and Rose Wellner Ehert, Treasurer. Outgoing President Ken Seufzer was applauded for his years of service as an officer.

Nominations for Honorary Member recognition are being solicited and are due by May 6 (2024). Suggestions can be made to any officer or Board Members of the Association. 2024 meeting dates agreed upon were Tuesday, May 7 – 6 pm at the SAHS Museum; Tuesday, July 9 – 6 pm at the SAHS Museum; Friday, October 4 - 3 pm High School for set-up; Saturday October 5 - 3pm Reunion Wrap-Up; Monday, November 4 – 6 pm at the SAHS Museum.
