On December 7, Owen Mayor Charlie Millien swore in the new Owen-Withee Chief of Police Patrick Fehlman. +++ The Owen Plan Commission has recommended the city sell approximately 34 acres of land to Pat Esker for $60,000. A future business could include a fabrication shop or truck shop, in addition to the current plan. Esker has also agreed to work with the city to explore the possible placement of a city well and water tower to the back of the property.

Tri-County Area Times

Students in the Osseo-Fairchild High School will have the opportunity to take nursing classes for college credit through a program that will be a joint-effort between the school district, Chippewa Valley Technical College and Mayo Health System Facility in Osseo. +++ On Saturday, December 18, the Wreaths Across America program took place at four Osseo area cemeteries, sponsored by the Craig S. Olson VFW Post 8514. The event was part of the National Wreaths Across America Day.

Trempealeau County Times

On Friday, December 10, the Trempealeau County Health Department reported a county resident died from the virus and that marked the 50th death in the county since the pandemic began in the spring of 2020. +++ At their most recent meeting, the Blair City Council voted to apply for Community Development Block Funding in the amount of $1 mullion dollars if awarded. The grant would help pay for a $2.5 million project to upgrade Broadway and Pearl Streets. At the same meeting, the council voted to go paperless using iPads that were reportedly purchased nearly two years ago. +++ The Arcadia Community Chest dispensed $22,000 of this year’s Community Chest donations. Tech 2021 campaign netted $22,616, an amount about $3,000 less than last year.
