‘Bad money drives out good,’ as they say, and with that in mind the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department has an important heads up regarding the local supply of $100 bills: check them. They might look real but say “play money” on the back.
Odds increase if the serial number is LGO03229158, which all the bills to date have possessed. Chippewa County Sheriff Travis Hakes shared more on the matter
“It has been brought to my attention that there have been several ‘100 Bills’ that have been recently found that are marked on the back; ‘play money,’” he said. “They all have the same serial # LGO03229158. These bills have been shown up in the area and the Village of Cadott Police Department has done a fantastic job identifying 10 of these bills as they were left in a store in Cadott. These bills have been passed around Chippewa County, please check your bills and report any ones that match this description. If you have questions, please notify our agency.”
