Juveniles will face charges in thefts from unlocked vehicles
by Joseph Back
Two Stanley-Boyd youth are due to face charges in the juvenile court system, following a series of car break-ins on the east side, encompassing the 300 and 400 blocks of First Avenue along with the 200 block of Third Avenue and 300 block of East Second Avenue.
The names area withheld due to the defendant’s youth, but it turns out the crimes, were ones of opportunity.
“They didn’t actually physically break into anything,” Stanley Police Chief Lance Weiland said Monday. “They entered unlocked vehicles.” But while the two male juveniles involved will face charges in the matters, Chief Weiland also said there was a broader takeaway.
“Hopefully this is a wake up call that you need to take the time to secure your property,” he said, listing vehicles, sheds, camping, garages, and houses in the mix. In the meantime, there could be more undiscovered at present.
“We do believe there were a couple more,” the chief said, “that they remember.”
