Naomi Engel from A&W stopped by Mrs. Boie’s sixth grade homeroom at Stanley-Boyd School to deliver a sweet reward for the class’s outstanding attendance in May. The students earned the best attendance record for the month and celebrated with root beer floats, courtesy of A&W.
Middle School Counselor Jeni Turenne shared the goal behind the incentive: “Our hope is to motivate kids to be here and be on time as much as they can. At the end of the month, the homeroom who has the best overall attendance receives some type of incentive to celebrate.”
Turenne also noted the growing partnership between the Stanley-Boyd Schools and A&W. “When A&W got its new owner, they reached out to the school offering ways to connect with us, and this happened to be one of their ideas,” she explained. “They’ve also provided smaller prizes like coupons, which we use as PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) incentives at our assemblies. They've truly been wonderful at helping us out!”
A&W was reopened in March by Dee Wells, who owns several local A&W franchises in the area.
