Headed out soon for their once in four years trip, the Stanley-Boyd Band and Choir are going to Atlanta this April.

As to music, the band and choir will have the chance to perform for and work with the music faculty at Georgia State University.

Among the non-musical stops on the coming trip these include visits to Centennial Olympic Park, a tour of Mercedes Benz Stadium, and visiting the world of Coca-Cola. Band Director Devon Wenndt shared more on the details of how the trips come about and how involvement with music can help student growth.

“Students have fundraising opportunities available to them starting in 6th grade, and they are often reminded of the benefits of working hard at their fundraising,” Wenndt said.

As to starting out, Wenndt said that, “There is no experience required to be in the band program. All you need is to have the ability to work hard and the desire to be successful. Ninety percent of the students joining band have little to no experience in music. A majority of students don’t even need to know how to read music. All you have to do is give it your best effort and you will be taught the rest.”

With band starting in fifth grade, Wenndt said that, “Stanley-Boyd Schools are dedicated to producing the highest quality extra-curricular and curricular activities at the elementary and middle school level. To do so, we need you to be involved. Sign up for band now and become part of the tradition building experience.”
