Boundary road addressed at Sept. 13 village board meeting

Winter parking rules are right around the corner, and with that in mind, the possibility of ‘no parking’ signs on Boundary Road came up at the Sept. 13 committee of the whole meeting at Boyd.

Boundary Road runs north and south on the village’s east side, with the portion of concern north of Highway 29.

Parked off the road on a small turn off was a camper, with fears of getting plowed in leading to occasional street parking instead of off road. With a creek washout to the south and neighboring residence up the road, how far does the village plow?

“We usually go past Smith’s driveway a little bit and that’s it,” Streets and Utilities worker Bob LaMarche said of winter plowing on Boundary Road north of Highway 29.

Stanley Police Chief Lance Weiland told the village board that the driveway and south of it was the real issue, the camper residents not connected with the nearby neighbors but instead parked on county land.

With Facebook Messenger not monitored 24/7 by the police department, making a phone call for issues more ideal, the non-emergency dispatch number for Stanley being 715-644-5975.

At any rate, the camper needed to be south of where the mailbox and fire number were, and a need for understanding on all sides was needed.

There will be no ‘no parking’ signs for now, with residents encouraged to attend village board meetings with their concerns.
