Boyd Board talks stuffed dumpsters at Lotz Park, concession stand rules

Camera surveillance could soon be coming to Lotz Park, and the Boyd concession stand, following a discussion in the Committee of the Whole meeting prior to regular board on Monday July 10. The discussion comes after behavior at Lotz Park including stuffed dumpsters by those looking to offload their trash collection, with cameras a wise investment.

The concession stand would be included in the camera plan as a recent addition

Finished in July 2018, the concession stand was a community effort, with the village initially approving the project in the fall of 2017. At the time, it was felt that the concession stand belonged to the village.

So, what do the published meeting minutes from that time reveal?

A special board meeting on October 2, 2017, with two current board members involved with the project, among other details. Those involved with the concession stand project. included LaVerne Fredrickson for the Little League, Casey Dorn as representative for the Boyd Lions, and village trustee Bob Geist to oversee the project, with funds being administered by the clerk.

Having moved from trustee to village president since then, Geist shared his recollection of the concession stand and builder’s intent July 10.

“At the time it was built, the understanding was that when it was done everything belonged to the village,” Geist said of the stand and its use.

The procedure as such is to reserve the stand and pick a key up from the village hall.

That and not stuff the dumpsters, lest the cameras to come catch one in the act.
