The monthly meeting of the Boyd Chamber of Commerce was held Tuesday, July 8. After the Pledge of Allegiance, new members were welcomed and the secretary’s report was given. There was a nice turnout for the fireworks sponsored by the Boyd Little League and Chamber on July 3. Special thanks were given to local businesses that also contributed to the fireworks. These businesses included the Village Haus, Corner Bar, Schuebel Lawn Service, McQuillan Plumbing, and Gerrits Construction.
The Chamber thankfully acknowledged a monetary gift given to the Chamber by the Scholze family in memory of Bob and Verna Scholze, long time past residents of Boyd. Bob was instrumental in starting Boyd Ringelspiel Days, which continues today, and was a member of the Boyd Lions Club and Boyd American Legion. The Scholze’s also owned and operated the Big B grocery store on Murray Street and were very active at many community events.
Also on the agenda was the upcoming Corn Feed. Plans are being finalized for setting up Murray St for the evening of August 15. The street closure will be extended to the Double D Saloon this year. Corn on the cob will be available for free and St Joes food wagon will be on hand, as well as fresh popped popcorn by All Saints PCCW. There will be bouncy houses/slides from Wisconsin Fun Factory, a fishing pond, Kevin’s Juggling and Balloons, and glitter tattoos. Trinity Vineyard Church will be on hand with free items for the children. There will be a sign up for free bike giveaways. A DJ will entertain from 5:30-9, then starting at 9pm, Virginia Steel will take the stage for live entertainment. Plans are being worked out for a Corn Hole tournament to be held at Aimee’s Double D Saloon. Posters will be made up and distributed.
Information was updated for the Little Miss and Junior Miss for the Miss Boyd contest for 2026.
A review and update of the By-Laws will begin in September.
The next Chamber meeting will be held Wednesday, August 6 at 6:30 p.m. at Lotz Park.
