Broadway Boutique celebrates 30th Anniversary with annual Community Fashion Event

Posted

Commemorating thirty years in business, Broadway Boutique hosted almost 200 attendees as they held their annual summer Fashion show on June 30th. With live music featuring past Broadway employee, Justine Dzor, Token Jewelry’s permanent bracelet bar, Cravings Food Truck, Munson Bridge Wine Bar and Color Coach Laura Reif on hand to share her expertise, there was something to please everyone. Emily Flatten, owner of Wildflowers and Honey Photography was also in attendance to capture the magic of the evening. Event attendees received a $10 Broadway gift card and a special edition 30th Anniversary Broadway Boutique t-shirt included with their $20 ticket. Models for the event were local customers of Broadway Boutique who were pampered for the day with their hair styled by Dana Smith and makeup applied by Ashley Potaczek of Glow Day Spa in Thorp. The clothing for the models was chosen by Broadway staff members and while the models didn’t get to keep the clothing items, they did receive a discount to be used in the boutique. Heather Brenner, owner of Broadway Boutique, was very pleased with the turnout at the annual fashion event, calling it their second best. “It was outstanding. We were very pleased,” she admits proudly.

Originally opened as a flower shop, Broadway Boutique has undergone many changes throughout its thirty years, slowly inching away from floral design and instead focusing on home goods and apparel.  Heather Brenner was surprised that the Boutique became what it is today and when asked if she expected this level of success, she quickly answers, “No, no. It was definitely a struggle for over half of those years. (I was) always wondering if it would work out.” She mentions that hard work and perseverance brought the Boutique the achievements they have today. Still, Brenner comments on the challenges that arose from operating a business in a small town, citing the small population that causes the lack of daily foot traffic and adding that they have to work hard and get creative to plan events to pull people in. But there is also an upside to residing in a small community and Brenner mentions how community word of mouth and variety contribute to the growth of the Boutique. “We carry a really large variety. There is something for everybody. It’s not just apparel but it is a very good selection for people that drive the distance to go look. Being in business for thirty years, people know where we are. We take pride in it. it’s always changing.” She continues, “It’s always something new and fresh and different. I think that people know that’s always going to be something new for them to see. I think that’s why we get so many repeat customers.”

Attending her own first fashion show in Chicago many years ago, Heather was motivated by the excitement and momentum surrounding the event and she wanted to bring that inspiration to Broadway’s customers and give them a fun night out. It’s at the fashion shows she attends in Las Vegas, Atlanta, St. Paul, Chicago that the inspiration for many of the clothing items at Broadway Boutique take shape, where Brenner says that it’s helpful to talk to vendors, get the scoop on upcoming trends, and view samples of items before they are available to the public. Brenner adds that she attends a show whenever she can because she enjoys finding new inspiration and tips that she can bring back for her customers. She shares that some trends and styles take a little longer to catch on. “We are a little more conservative in our area. It takes us a little longer to get on those trends,” she admits.

Heather Brenner and the staff at Broadway Boutique are thankful for thirty years of ongoing support from their customers and the local community. “We are super grateful to have people come visit us,” Brenner shares appreciatively.

Customers and community members can look forward to Broadway Boutique’s Upscale Garage Sale, their next event scheduled for the last week of July. For more information on the event, follow Broadway Boutique’s Facebook page.
