SPOTLIGHT ON Abundant Life Pentecostal

Beginning in 1963, Abundant Life Pentecostal Church has made an impact in the Thorp Community for the past 60 years. Abundant Life Church is affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church International and based after the doctrine of the apostles. They establish their beliefs and lifestyle after the Scriptures of the Bible. “The Bible is the infallible Word of God and the authority for Salvation and Christian living.” 2 Timothy 3:15-17.

Born and raised in the Chicago area, Pastor John Sindler received his ministerial license in Winder, Georgia. He moved to Wisconsin in 1992 and became the Pastor of Abundant Life in June 1994. Pastor Sindler and his wife, Lou Ann, have two daughters who work in the ministry of Abundant Life Church along with their spouses. Pastor and Mrs. Sindler have passed down the family legacy of ministry to their children and further to some of their grandchildren, who are now involved in ministry. When asked why he loves being a Pastor at Abundant Life, Pastor John Sindler immediately mentions the children. “I think seeing the kids grow up and have a solid foundation with Jesus Christ. Seeing them stick.” He continues, “You want to see the lineage carried on.” Living south of Thorp, Pastor Sindler has been a member of the Thorp Community for 29 years. What he likes the best about the community is that “It’s a solid town. I appreciate the fact that Thorp cares about their community,” he says. And being active members in the community is a large part of the work of Abundant Life Church. “We are called to be servants, not rulers.” Pastor Sindler explains. “Our desire is to help our congregation be true disciples in the world around them. Our perspective is first to help the people and then help their Spiritual Life.” Abundant Life Pentecostal Church carries that out in the many service projects they complete for the town. In the summer, Abundant Life Pentecostal Church hosts an outdoor service and free Picnic in the park for the public. They also organize Vacation Bible School for local children in the area. Even the youth groups take on various projects during the year, including, painting fire hydrants, cleaning up dog parks, and caroling at area nursing homes. Every Thanksgiving they prepare the Annual Thorp Community Thanksgiving Dinner at no cost for residents in the area. They offer dine in meals, takeout meals and deliveries. In 2022, 440 meals were served to the public. Worship is an important part of Abundant Life Church. Psalms 98:4 says, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.” The contemporary worship band leads many hearts to worship with their modern blend of praise music.

Abundant Life Church is also home to Abundant Life Christian Academy, a school for grades 4K to 12th grade. They offer a Biblically based education appropriate to each student’s individual level.
