Due to recent milder weather conditions, it’s time to get out and enjoy Winter recreation events.
The Stanley Sportsman’s Club is offering everyone a great winter activity this coming Saturday, February 21st. They are sponsoring their 20th Annual Chapman Lake Ice Fishing Contest from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Tickets for the event are $10.00 per ticket or book of 3 tickets for $20.00. Each $10 ticket will enter you into the contest and all cash prizes. As in the past, the Youth contest will be free of charge.
$500 cash prizes in 5 categories for Adult fishing contest (Crappie, Bluegill, Perch, Bass and Northern Pike)
Fishing equipment prizes will be awarded for the Youth contest. $2500 in cash prizes will be drawn at the end of the contest. Grand Prize, $1,000; 1st prize $500; 2nd prize $300; 3rd prize $100; 12 cash prizes of $50 each. Need not be present to win cash drawing prizes.
Tickets will be on sale for a 50/50 cash raffle. Lunch and refreshments available throughout the contest at the lunch wagon and all youth will receive a free cookie and cup of hot chocolate.
Tickets are still available in advance for purchase at Oemig’s Sports Shop, Otter Lake Bait Shop and other local businesses.
Tickets can also be purchased during the contest at the Chapman Lake boat landing.
Funds raised from the contest will be earmarked for Chapman Park and Lake improvement. Past improvements include lake dredging, lake aeration, deer park improvements, upgrades and maintenance, construction of a Stanley Sportsman’s Club Memorial building, $20,000 donation for construction of the Community Center and fish stocking.
