At the January 20th meeting, the Stanley City Council approved the purchase of a new 2024 Chevrolet Crew Cab Pickup truck from Nels Gunderson Chevrolet for the Streets Department to improve efficiency and support the department’s growing needs. Streets/Grounds Foreman Joe Schmitt presented the council with three truck options, explaining that the new 3/4-ton pickup would be equipped with a service body to store tools and equipment, ultimately reducing downtime.
“It will cut down on a lot of run time,” Schmitt noted.
Schmitt provided quotes from three dealerships: Morrie’s Cadott, Courtesy Ford, and Nel’s Gunderson. However, he mentioned that the trucks from Morrie’s Cadott and Courtesy Ford were not in stock, while the truck from Nel’s Gunderson Chevrolet was available for immediate pickup.
The truck option from Nel’s Gunderson Chevrolet is a 2024 Chevrolet Crew Cab Pickup, priced at $62,378.00. The alternative options were a 2024 Ford Crew Cab Pickup from Courtesy Ford for $64,786, and a 2025 Ram Tradesman Crew Cab Pickup from Morrie’s Cadott for $57,538.
“I could use the truck sooner than later,” Schmitt said, emphasizing the urgency of the purchase. He also mentioned plans to sell the city’s 1997 and 2011 trucks at auction, explaining that “there really is no need for us to have three trucks in the street department.”
“Did we have this budgeted, Mike?” Alderperson Ben Wald asked. Henke confirmed that there was money in the budget for this purchase.
