After COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the 60th anniversary, the Class of 1960 celebrated their 60th and 61st reunions on Thursday, May13, at Debbie’s on Broadway, with 21 classmates and guests present. The Stanley High School graduates were all happy to be back and able to meet again. At 11:30 am, Class President Dave Jankoski greeted the gathering and thanked everyone for attending. Prior to lunch being served, Jankoski went over the classes’ responsibilities as they relate to the forthcoming All-School Reunion being held this year on Saturday, October 2, at the high school gym. A signup sheet was passed around and attendees signed up for each of the work assignments. Following, there was a review of the Class Members who are deceased, with it being noted that 33 of 101, who started school together in the fall of 1957 are on that list. It was also noted that there were 81 graduates pictured in the 1960 annual. Prior to lunch being served, class members started providing a brief summary of their current activities and station in life. The reports included care of spouses with declining health or dementia, repair and replacement of body parts that have worn out, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren care and attending their activities, travel, leisure activities and hobbies, volunteering, winters in warm places and more. After lunch, individual reports continued and the classes scrapbooks were available for reminiscing and they drew a lot of attention. Following a class photo, there was a lot of visiting before attendees departed for home. It was agreed that the class will again meet on the 4th Thursday in April of 2022. Debbie Haas, one of the new owners of the former Deano’s, was acknowledged for the delicious beef tips, potatoes and carrots meal that was served with a salad and roll.
All attendees were encouraged to return for the All-School Reunion on Saturday, October 2. Class members attending will be seated together.
