Nicole Thiel has been the City Clerk-Treasurer of the City of Stanley since December 2020. With an Associate Degree in Accounting from the Chippewa Valley Technical College, Nicole is expected to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration in December of 2023. She has also taken several emergency management training courses through FEMA, WEM and Chippewa County.
Originally from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Nicole has lived in the Stanley area for 17 years. She enjoys the fact that Stanley is a small town and that people come together in the community. An added perk is that Stanley has a good school system.
Nicole and her fiancé, Larry, have six children ranging in ages 10 to 21. It’s a full house with their Golden Retriever, two cats, a hamster, a Cockatiel, and even some fish! Nicole’s family enjoys watching tv and movies together, going to amusement parks and attending community events and fairs. When Nicole takes time to relax, she enjoys watching Gordon Ramsay’s cooking contest shows, classic sitcoms and the Masked Singer. She loves to cheer for her favorite football team, the Minnesota Vikings. A little-known fact about Nicole is that she was born in the middle of a blizzard in Madison, Wisconsin.
In April 2017, Nicole traveled to the Chicago area for the solar eclipse, and it was an unforgettable experience. Nicole says, “This was something that is rare and not many people can say they have seen it.”
Always one to rise to a challenge, Nicole loves the constant learning curve of her job. The biggest challenge of her career was when she had to pick up where the previous employee left without them being there. She didn’t ever give up and that advice ended up being the best she ever received. When asked what the most enjoyable part about her job is, Nicole responds, “Making the community a better place to live in.”
