Agreement approved with Ayres Associates for sampling

The City of Stanley Common Council went into closed session Monday, March 6 at City Hall, and when it came out it made a decision: to begin preparing a developer’s agreement for the purchase of five acres by Courtesy Ford in the East Business Park.

Motion was made by alderman Mike Henke, being seconded by Jacob Huff. With few other details available at present, there was plenty to cover Monday night—including a public service announcement: it’s time for spring cleaning.

“We are going to start cleanup on some properties, ward 2 alderman Kevin Hendrickson said in open session towards the end of Monday’s meeting. “It’s been a year since the tornado.”

As such, those who might have personal concerns were instructed to call Hendrickson personally at 715-644-5741 to have any potential cleanup concerns addressed.

In other news from the Monday night’s meeting, the council approved a Clark County Certified Survey Map (CSM) review of surveys in Stanley, as well as an agreement for professional services by Ayres Associates for 2023.

As to the former, the action allows Clark County to ensure that its own maps are accurate with regard to relevant surveys.

As to the latter, the agreement calls in part for monitoring well sampling, sample analysis, and data reporting on a semi-annual basis of groundwater, with electronic submittal to the WDNR Bureau of Solid Waste Management.

In exchange the city will pay Ayres Associates a lump sum of $5,600. If laboratory sub consultant costs exceed the estimated $1,480, the agreement further stipulates that the difference in estimated versus actual laboratory fees will be paid by the CLIENT (City of Stanley) to CONSULTANT (Ayres Associates Inc) for services rendered.

At the same time and for those looking to camp this year, the campground will soon have flyers and a sign in sheet, with QR code posted by the bathrooms for quick review of policy details.

For a closer review of the policy, place your phone over the code to the right.

As to those who upon reading the policy still cause trouble, the council voted Monday to not let them back, the reason explained by alderman Jason Meyer.

“By the time police would ask them to leave they would have already had their chances,” he said of the rules meant to protect the parks and related facilities as well as conservancy areas from “injury, damage, or desecration,” per the new policy.
