At the Stanley City Council’s March 18 meeting, Library Director Elizabeth Miniatt provided the council with the monthly D.R. Moon Memorial Library report updating them on the grant application of the Library that would be submitted later that week.
Miniatt mentioned that the Wi-Fi hotspots continue to be the most popular checkout for the third year in a row with a total of 132 checkouts in 2023. “Our hotspots are in constant demand and often with a waiting list,” she said.
She informed the council that the Chippewa County Library Planning Committee concluded its recommendation to the county to gradually increase the percentage that Chippewa County reimburses libraries to get to the 100 percent reimbursement by 2030. The county voted to approve the plan.
“So currently we are reimbursed at ninety percent by Chippewa. It will increase by 2% each year until it is one hundred percent,” Miniatt explained.
The D.R. Moon Memorial Library will be closed on March 29 for the Easter holiday.
The council voted to approve the amendment to the City of Stanley Landfill Agreement for 2024 with Ayres Associates, Inc. Ayres Associates will complete environmental monitoring services for 2024 for a fee of $5,800. The scope of work will include, monitoring well sampling, sample analysis, and data reporting.
“Is that a one-year contract?” Alderperson Mark Fitzsimmons questioned. “That’s a one year, yes,” Henke affirmed.
Commenting on the report that ABE Concrete was submitting estimates for city sidewalks, curbs and gutters that are in need of replacements, Alderperson Jason Meyer remarked that he has no problem with the quality of work that ABE Concrete has done but asked if the city should get a second quote estimate for the sidewalks, curbs, and gutters that are to be replaced later this year.
“We can, sure. Want to pass that on to John?” Alderperson Mike Henke said to city administrator Nicole Pilgrim referring to public works operator John Hoel.
The council voted to approve the amended resolution for Fire Department Services for the Stanley Fire Department. The Stanley Fire Department will charge set rates for fire department services to city residents. According to the resolution, “The bill for structure fires not to exceed $1000.00 for city residents of the incident location.” Each incident that the Stanley Fire
Department is dispatched will be a one-hour minimum charge and billed in whole hours. Prices include: Pumper 1 at $175 per hour, Rescue 1 at $100 per hour, and Personnel at $25 per hour.
