The D.R. Moon Memorial Library presents a Story Walk through downtown Stanley from Sept. 1 through Sept. 30. A Story Walk typically takes apart a children’s book and reassembles the pages at local businesses for a learning activity that everyone can enjoy. It helps individuals and families foster a love for literacy while engaging outside in their community.

The Library’s Story Walk on Broadway Street will feature the book “The Boy Who Was Raised by Librarians” by Carla D. Morris, a humorous and heartfelt story showing the relationship between a curious boy and his local librarians who are always there to help him find the answers to his many questions.

Library Director Elizabeth Miniatt shared that the idea of the D.R. Moon Library’s Story Walk was motivated by the Library’s desire to bring library resources and a love of reading into the community. She adds that the Story Walk is easily accessible and convenient as individuals can walk through at their own pace with no time limit.

The Story Walk will begin at Round 2 Resale, continue down Broadway Street and circles back at 1st Avenue to end at 4th Avenue.  Story Walk maps will be available at the library, and once the Story Walk is completed, children can return the map to the library for a free book. Participating businesses include, Round-2 Resale, DJ’s Laundromat, Ele’s Flowers, 1881 Nutrition, Stanley Area Dance, Citizen’s State Bank, Marine Credit Union, Stanley Movie Theater, Hazuga’s True Value, Visions Salon, Cody’s Classic Cars, and Modern Beauty Salon.
