A home at Wilson is standing, after a passerby noticed smoke and shared their concerns with neighbors, who called it in. Four pets were lost to smoke inhalation and one firefighter was transported to the hospital. No one from the house itself was home at the time of the fire.
Called in Thursday, April 24 around 10:45 a.m., the house fire at N2091 Ritter Road in the Town of Wilson saw response from Stanley Fire as well as Boyd-Edson-Delmar and Thorp. Cadott was called for mutual assistance but later cancelled as the fire was brought under control. The house is registered to Andrew and Kelly Drost.
“They did what they could before we got there,” Stanley Fire Captain Jeff Ryba said of the neighbor’s calling in the fire. Ryba said the fire department had things under control within a half hour. The home received heat and smoke damage in the fire, but was ultimately saved.
“It’s not liveable right now,” Ryba said of current conditions at the home.
