The Town of Thorp Board met on June 11 with one noticeable absence—an empty chair left by Chairman Mike Boehlke, who resigned on May 7. His resignation was formally accepted at the May 14 meeting.
Boehlke’s letter read:
“I would like to inform you that I am resigning from my position as town chairperson for the Town of Thorp, effective today. Thank you for the opportunity, but at this time it does not work with my work time available. Sincerely, Michael Boehlke.”
With the chair position vacant, 1st Supervisor Bob Kodl led the June 11 meeting. Also present were 2nd Supervisor Louie Andruskiewicz—who had previously expressed a desire to resign but chose to stay on after being re-elected—City Clerk Arlene Kodl, and newly elected Town Treasurer Michelle Pogodzinski, who also serves as the City Clerk for Thorp.
During the meeting, the board addressed the need to appoint a new chairman. “Chair is empty,” Kodl remarked, before asking Andruskiewicz if he was interested in stepping into the role. Andruskiewicz declined, stating, “No, I’m not going to run up there. I told you that years ago.” He continued, “I think that you’ve been in there for a while. I think that you should step up and take the job.”
“I will,” Kodl responded.
Andruskiewicz then nominated Bob Kodl for the position, and Clerk Arlene Kodl voiced her agreement. Following a unanimous vote, Kodl was officially named the new Chairman.
Bob Kodl becomes the fourth person to serve as Chairman of the Town of Thorp since 2024, following Jerry Jacks, Andruskiewicz, and Boehlke.
With Kodl’s appointment, the 1st Supervisor position is now vacant. The board is currently seeking a Town of Thorp resident to fill the role.
“If anybody is interested, don’t be scared to talk to us,” said Kodl. “It’s hard to find people.”
“Let the board know,” added Andruskiewicz. “Because it’s up to the board to pick them.”
“We’ll have to have it by next month, I’m hoping,” Kodl said.
The next Town of Thorp board meeting is scheduled for July 9 at 6:30 P.M.
