All Saint’s Eve/Halloween is soon upon us, with a host of Halloween events planned, including Candy Crawl, Trunk or Treat, a free Halloween movie, and trick or treat hours.
With maps available through city hall as of Monday, the third annual Candy Crawl is fast approaching in Stanley on Friday, Oct. 30. Taking place from 3 to 5 p.m. and sponsored by the city, the sugar haul at the Candy Crawl is expected to be sweet!
Also this weekend, the Stanley Community Association is hosting Trunk or Treat on Saturday, Oct. 31st from 9 a.m. to noon at Chapman Park. A free family event, SCA President Kristi Weiland shared more on the Trunk or Treat.
“We are very excited for our 6th Annual SCA Trunk or Treat! It will once again be at Chapman Park 10/31 from 9 a.m. -12 p.m,” she said. “There will be music, provided by Bad Apple Entertainment and NHS volunteers. Some emergency services vehicles will be there along with about 20 other fun trunks for the kids to check out.
“We will once again be doing our “Stuff the Trunk”, collecting non-perishable food and personal hygiene items for the Stanley-Boyd Area Food Pantry. We will also have a box for monetary donations.”
Also this Saturday meanwhile, the Stanley Movie Theater will be hosting a free Halloween movie, Illumination’s “Minions and Monsters.” With two showings, including one at 10:30 a.m. as well as 1:30 p.m. Set in 1920s Los Angeles, “Minions and Monsters” is rated PG and follows the Minions, who conquer Hollywood and become massive movie stars. Later on when talking pictures arrive, they lose their fortune and try to adapt by directing their own monster movie, resulting in unleashing real monsters that require banding together.
Come nighttime, Stanley and Boyd will each host trick or treat hours, with Stanley trick or treat hours running from 5 to 7 p.m. while Boyd runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
A Haunted Hollow put on by the Boyd Lions Club will be held at the Boyd Catering Center at 719 East Murray Street.
