The Stanley Area Historical Society will be holding their Quarterly Meeting on Monday, April 26, beginning at 7 pm in the old fourth ward school at 228 Helgerson Street.
Always seeking new and active members, the meeting agenda will include a review by Adam Smit on the Trust Fund investments with his firm, financial reports by Treasurer James Ericksen, exhibits for 2021, possible 2021 programs, Digitization Report, cleaning needs, and work schedule for 2021. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend. As stated, prospective members are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served following the meeting. Attendees are asked to wear a mask and social distancing should be no problem in the large meeting room.
Now in its 45th year of existence, and housed in an old school building over 100 years old, the Stanley Area Historical Society has many great exhibits on site, including those dedicated to World War II, the old lumber mill once at the site of present day Fandry Park, wood carvings of wildlife done by an inmate from the Stanley Correctional Institution, and Wisconsin prehistory, including tools made of stone.
With beer tabs, a Cadillac, and the Bridgman Memorial Library housing everything from old plat maps to church census reports, the Stanley Area Historical Society has something for everyone, with a presence on Facebook for those seeking additional information. Dedication to preserving the past, doesn’t preclude being up to date in methods of engagement.
If you or someone whom you know is into history, send or bring them with to the Quarterly meeting on April 26 at 7 p.m., in the old schoolhouse at 228 Helgerson Street, Stanley.
