Krystle Bacha, Director of Special Education and School Psychologist at Stanley-Boyd, not only has the experience necessary to be an incredible counselor at Stanley-Boyd, but she also has the heart. Krystle’s dedication and kindness is shaping the hearts and minds of each child she is in contact with daily. Growing up in West Allis, Wisconsin, Krystle then attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for undergraduate studies and earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology. From there she went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and earned a master’s degree in education and a specialist degree in school psychology. In addition, she has also received licensure for Director of Special Education and Pupil Services from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Krystle’s education gave her the skill and knowledge necessary to lead her students, but her passion is what touches their hearts. “As a school psychologist, I get to support students in their learning and development,” she explains.
Krystle became a psychologist because of her compassionate nature and because she is a problem solver. “I chose to become a school psychologist because I enjoy working with kids, I enjoy finding their strengths, and I want to identify ways to help those who are struggling with their learning and development.”
For Krystle, choosing to become a psychologist was an easy choice in high school. “Psychology was an interest for me and after taking the courses in high school I explored careers in psychology. I found school psychology and I don’t think there is anything else I would be.” She discusses the lack of school psychologists in the area and remarks, “I wish people knew more about the shortage of school psychologists in our area, our state, and in our country. We need more students interested in pursuing this career because there is a need.”
Krystle comments on why she chose to continue her career at Stanley-Boyd where she has been the school psychologist since 2013. “I chose to come to Stanley-Boyd because of its reputation for professional learning communities that work hard for student success. The staff are hardworking, kind, and are driven to see students grow and learn,” she shares.
When Krystle is able to relax, she focuses on spending her free time with her family. She lives in Chippewa Falls with her husband, Kyle, and two children who attend 1st grade and 4K at Stanley-Boyd. “As a family we like to go camping, we like to go to movies, and we enjoy dance parties at home,” she describes, mentioning that one of her favorite songs is ‘Shake It Off’ by Taylor Swift and her favorite movie is ‘The Greatest Showman.’ True to her Wisconsin heritage, Krystle is a fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers. A fun fact about Krystle is that she shares a birthday with her son.
Though the school year is soon coming to a close, Krystle is looking forward to continuing to foster relationships with her students. “I’m excited for the new relationships I get to make with new students. I’m excited to watch students grow and thrive throughout the years. I’m so lucky I get to watch students grow from elementary age through middle school age and onto high school graduation.” Families in the Stanley-Boyd Area District are reaping the benefits of having someone as educated and thoughtful as Krystle to inspire their children.
