The Winter Wonderland light display in Chapman Park is back and bigger than ever and while Santa may not be coming to town just yet, we know many vehicles will be driving through the park to see the spectacular displays. The National Honor Society along with students from Skills USA, Art Club, FFA, FCCLA, FBLA and the Student Council are working together to bring some holiday cheer to Chapman Park for the fourth year. The hard-working students have worked many long hours planning and decorating, all while maintaining their extracurricular activities. Winter Wonderland will start during the Thanksgiving Holiday week, with the lights on as of Nov. 21 at 4:30 p.m.

An officially opening ceremony will take place Nov. 28.

Polly Hoffman, National Honor Society advisor, commented, “There is such a satisfying feeling when an area gets lit up as the darkness sets.” She mentioned that the mild weather has been a blessing as the students put the finishing touches on the light displays. Hoffman said that the student groups are thankful to everyone in the community for their continued support as they are in the park installing the lights. Many people have shared contributions, smiles, and words of encouragement as the students decorated. The Stanley Sportsman’s Club generously donated $1,000 to purchase new strands of lights and is a big partner in making the park light decorations possible this year. An official ceremony to commemorate the 2023 Winter Wonderland light display with music and a prayer offered by Pastor Ken Schmidt, will held on November 28th at 4:15 p.m.

Wreaths for the annual Memory Tree, provided by Wisconsin Wreath, LLC., are available for purchase for $10 in honor of your loved ones and names may be added to the tree until the week of Christmas. Anyone wishing to purchase a wreath can email Polly Hoffmann, National Honor Society Advisor, at phoffmann@s-bschools.org or drop off a $10 donation at the high school.

Anyone wishing to make a monetary contribution for the light display can drop it off at the money box at the park or drop it off at the school. Donations are always appreciated as it takes many lights and cords to decorate the park.
