SPOTLIGHT ON
Trinity Vineyard Church
Beginning in 1990, Trinity Vineyard Church has held a solid role in the Stanley community for 33 years. Pastor Don Hakes is the interim Pastor serving on the board since the beginning. Born and raised in Stanley, Pastor Hakes served in the army in Vietnam and farmed for forty years before becoming Pastor of Trinity Vineyard Church in 2020. Pastor Don Hakes and his wife Linda are the proud parents of three sons and six grandchildren. Having a large family of his own, Pastor Hakes enjoys Family Sundays at Trinity Vineyard Church. “I just love having them kids around.” When asked what he enjoys the most about the Stanley Community that he grew up in, Pastor Hakes remarks, “People getting together and helping people out. People being there for people.”
“Our motto is love God, love people, period.” Pastor Hakes explains. “We do a lot of outreach in the community.” Trinity Vineyard Church has a strong desire to help those in need so they provide a Back to School Backpack Giveaway and a Community Christmas Dinner Basket Giveaway. Associate Pastor Brian Peterson has been a member for six years, served on the board for two years and is active with the food pantry started by the Church. Trinity Vineyard Church hosts the Fruit of the Vine Food Pantry which is open the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month from 4pm to 6 pm.
Over the last few years, many churches have faced challenges and Trinity Vineyard Church is no different. “I guess the biggest challenge we have right now is getting people back in Church after covid,” Pastor Hakes explains as he discusses the importance of attending services in person.
Trinity Vineyard Church is part of Vineyard USA based in Stafford, Texas. Following the teachings of Vineyard USA, they hold to a “kingdom of God centered theology.” Kenn Gulliksen started the first Vineyard Church in West LA in 1974 and now they have over 2400 Churches worldwide. Trinity Vineyard Church believes in the Holy Trinity- Father, Son and Holy Spirit and that Salvation comes by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
