Long a local fixture, Martino’s Restaurant has a long history as a place the whole family can enjoy.
Started in 2004 by Ron Haas, Martino’s Restaurant was purchased by Megan and John Junker in 2024. Located off Highway 29 at 965 Pine Street in Stanley, Martino’s is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and offers a lunch buffet Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with soup and salad available throughout the day, every day. Martino’s also offers dine-in and carryout service, a call-ahead drive-thru, catering and large-order services, as well as a party room.
Megan sharing more on background behind purchase.
“Martino’s was actually my first job in high school when Ron Haas opened the restaurant in 2004,” she said. “I worked there for a couple of years and then came back again while I was in college. I truly loved my time at Martino’s and learned so much from Ron.
“They say the third time’s the charm, right? Almost 20 years after I first started working here, John and I had the opportunity to take over Martino’s in January 2024.”
Working at the time as a pre-op/post-op recovery RN at Aspirus, the restaurant eventually needed a full time focus, with Megan transitioning to full-time at the restaurant.
“John was already a business owner with his shipping-container rental and sales business, which he continues to operate today, but is a huge part of Martinos and keeping things running smoothly,” she said. “It’s pretty special to look back and realize that a place that started as my first high-school job has become such a big part of our family’s life.”
As for what Martino’s offers, Megan said the business strives to offer delicious food, great customer service, and a place where families, friends, co-workers and teams feel comfortable gathering.
“We want Martino’s to offer more than delicious food,” she said. “We really strive to provide great customer service and create a place where families, friends, coworkers and teams feel comfortable gathering.
“We’re probably best known for our homemade pizza, but our menu also includes pastas, subs, calzones, appetizers, soups, salads and desserts. We also offer our popular lunch buffet Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., along with soup and salad bar available all day every day.
“Whether someone is stopping in for a quick lunch, ordering supper for the family or feeding a large business or gathering, we have options for a variety of appetites and group sizes. And when there just isn’t time to sit down for a meal, customers can call ahead and conveniently pick up their order through our drive thru.”
Junker said that customers’ favorite pizzas this year have included Ron’s Original, an all-meat pizza, as well as the Martino’s House Special, the house version of a supreme. Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken also continues to be a pasta favorite and is available in both individual and family sizes.
That’s not all, however. Martino’s also offers subs and calzones, with Chicken Bacon Ranch and Philly Steak two of the most popular choices. As for dessert, three customer favorites are the Peanut Butter M&M Streusel, house-made Pistachio Gelato and 7th Heaven Ice Cream Cake.
“We love having people come in and enjoy a meal with us, but we also know life gets busy,” Megan says. “Customers can call their order in ahead of time and pick it up right at our drive-thru window without ever having to leave their vehicle.”
That convenience has become an important part of what Martino’s offers, especially for busy families and people grabbing lunch during the workday, as well as customers picking up dinner on their way home.
Among restaurant offerings is a party room.
“We have a party room that accommodates approximately 25 to 30 guests, with additional seating nearby when needed,” Megan says. “We recommend reserving the room for larger groups.
“We host birthday parties, meetings, wedding rehearsals, team dinners, church groups and many other gatherings.”
One thing we especially enjoy is giving tours to schools and daycares. Kids get a behind-the-scenes look at how a restaurant operates and how one of their favorite foods goes from start to finish. Groups can even arrange for the kids to make their own pizzas, which is always a lot of fun.”
Also part of Martino’s is Onyx Oven, a mobile pizza kitchen built from a 20-foot shipping container in the spring of 2025.
“Onyx Oven allows us to bring Martino’s beyond the walls of the restaurant and serve at community events, businesses, weddings and private gatherings,” Megan says. “It has been exciting to watch that part of the business grow, and Onyx Oven is now booking events for 2027.”
Those seeking information on reserving party room, customers can call Martino’s directly at 715-644-3334. For Onyx Oven events, customers can also call the restaurant. Staff will collect the event information and pass it along to John, while John can be contacted directly at 715-313-3591 for food-truck inquiries.
Customers can also follow both businesses on facebook to keep up with specials, events, featured menu items and what’s happening at the restaurant.
On a broader note, the Junkers want to thank the community for continuing to support the restaurant.
“Most of all, we want to thank our community for continuing to support us,” Megan says. “Although John and I were already business owners before taking over Martino’s, restaurant ownership and operations have been a whole new adventure. We have learned an incredible amount over the past few years, and we’re still learning every day.
“We’re proud to continue something that has been part of the Stanley community for more than 20 years while also finding new ways to grow it. Whether that means improving the restaurant experience, expanding what we offer, taking Onyx Oven into more communities or simply getting better at what we already do, we’re excited about what is ahead.
“We’re incredibly grateful for our team, customers, employees, businesses, schools, teams and organizations that continue to choose Martino’s. We wouldn’t be here without them, and we’re looking forward to serving this community for many years to come.”
