New scoreboard up at Lotz Park

Lotz Park in Boyd is getting some updates.
A new digital scoreboard from All American Scoreboards was installed Tuesday, March 11 by Bob LaMarche and Tony Peterson.
The new scoreboard was made possible in part with a $5,000 donation from Northwestern Bank, with Boyd Little League picking up the remaining $3,940.55.
Joining the scoreboard in turn will be a new outfield fence. Approved at the April 14 village board meeting with quote from Alliance, the new five-foot tall outfield fence will extend for 440 feet with protective cap and cost $11,000.
The new fence was made possible in part with a $2,500 dollar donation from Northwestern Bank. Also donating to the outfield fence were the family of Robert and Verna Scholze with $2,000 and Hetches LLC with $200. The Boyd Little League is also expected to contribute.
Also in news from Boyd Village Board is the prospect of a new solar or direct powered radar sign to slow down speeders.
“I had a quote from Lance about radar signs,” Trustee Casey Dorn said for the police and ordinance update. “And it wasn’t bad. For one sign you can get solar or direct power.
“The one at Cadott always seems to work,” Village President Bob Geist said for the solar power sign option.
“It would probably costs more money to wire it than just put solar on,” Trustee Michael Eslinger offered for his take. No decisions were made on radar sign purchase at the April board meeting.
As for Boundary Road, the report is that issues are resolving themselves.
“It seems like our Boundary Road issues are taking care of themselves,” Geist said without elaboration. The dead end road has seen several visits over the past few months from police and county sheriff’s deputies, being situated on the Boyd-Town of Delmar border.
Returning to close with Lotz Park news, new pavilion rental rates are in effect. Approved this past November, rentals of the large pavilion is set to cost $125 this year, the small pavilion rental rate set at $100. Reservations can be made through the Village Hall at 715-667-3420.
As for Lotz Park itself, it opens May 1—no rental fees required.
