A bad day for seeking increased school taxes—but not winter weather fans.
Headed to the polls amidst cold and snow on Tuesday April 2, Stanley-Boyd Area Schools District voters rejected a $23 million referendum bond referendum—this rejection mirrored in the region by separate referenda at Thorp and Cadott.
District wide at Stanley-Boyd, some 407 voted ‘yes’ while 1,157 voted against, or just over a third in favor. Stanley-Boyd Superintendent Jeff Koenig shared thoughts from the district after the results were in.
“We appreciate everyone who took the time to vote,” he said. “Throughout the process, the board had stated we would not know how the community feels without a vote. The board will decide what if anything is next in our facility discussions.”
