Back from Medford and Bloomer, the Stanley-Boyd Oriole boys took first at the former, while the wheel

“On Tuesday we were at Medford and the boys won the meet, narrowly defeating Marathon,” he said. “The girl's placed 7th. It was extremely cold at this meet, and I considered the performances to be good for the conditions.”

As for the boys’ results, Zach Ciszak placed first in the Discus with 117-04, while Lucas Walker won the 800 Meter run with a time of 2:08.22, also a personal record.  The boys 4 x 100 relay team also captured 1st (Jake Lagrander, Madden Mahr, Carson Hodowonic and Simon Polman) 45.63 (PR) They need to drop more than a second and a half to break the school record,” Coach Bob Seidl said.

Other boys who medaled at Medford were Zach Boes, who placed 2nd in the pole Vault with 12' 6”, while Chase Sturm took second in the Shot Put with a distance of 42’3”. Additionally, Nic Schmelzer placed 2nd n the 110 hurdles with a time of 17.50 and third in the 300 Intermediate hurdles with 44.98, a personal record. Simon Poleman took 2nd in the 100-meter dash at Medford, while Lucas Walker took third in the 1600-meter run with 4:47.90. Landon Karlen, Carson Hodowanic, Caleb Westrom and Landon Hoel took third in the 800-meter relay, coming away with 143.38. 

As for the girls at Medford, Teagen Becker made a high jump of 5-0 for first place, Syleen Seichter also medaled, placing third in the discus with 85-7.5). Beth Pilgrim placed 3rd in the 400-meter run (1:08.18). Following Medford, it was on to Bloomer on Thursday for another matchup.

“At Bloomer the weather was better, and we had sometimes in the running events, but our field performances were off,” Coach Seidl said.

As such, the best performance for the girls came from Elana Trevino who placed first in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:03.1 and second in the 1600 meter run 6.22.4, the latter a personal record by almost 20 seconds. “She is really bringing her times down in the mile,” Seidl said of Trevino.  Meanwhile Teagen Becker won the high jump with 4'8" and Lulu Chwala won the 300-meter low hurdles with 50.25.  

For the boys at Bloomer, Zach Boes won the Pole vault with 12-0 and the triple Jump with 36-4.  Simon Polman won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.55) and Madden Mahr won the 200-meter dash (23.57).  Lucus Walker won the 3200-meter run (10:27.8).  Nic Schmelzer won both the 110 hurdles with a time of 17.26 and the 300 IH with 44.48, a personal record.

“The boys have a lot of depth and have shown their speed in the sprints and strength in the distance events.  We need to continue to improve in the field events, Coach Seidl said. “Conference is only two weeks away. The girls are short of numbers but can compete in individual events.  We are working on our planned strategy for Conference.  The girls will need to step up to be competitive.”
