The temperatures were warmer this time, and the skies blue. Inside at UW-Stout, meanwhile, things were heating up.

Facing off against the best of the best in the area, Stanley-Boyd track and field athletes made their mark. Coach Bob Seidl shared some thoughts after the results were in.

"What we are seeing early on is that com – petition from our conference looks tough," he said. "Fall Creek has a lot of athletes out and will be the team to beat in the Western Clover – belt. In the East, Colby has a strong group of distance runners on their girls and boys rosters. We have some strong athletes and a lot of inex – perienced athletes who will need to contribute by the end of the season for our teams to have a chance," Seidl said. The best performance of the day came from Teagen Becker who placed 2nd in the high jump at Stout.

As to senior Cooper Nichols, Seidl noted his finish in the 55-meter dash of 6.83, then said, "It remains to be seen if he can transfer that short speed in the 55 to success in the 100, 200 and 400 meters dash outdoors. "On a final note, Seidl said he wished there were more athletes this year and that determination and hard work would ultimately determine the season for Stan – ley-Boyd.

"I wish we had a few more athletes out this year," he said. "Our team's success will be determined by dedication and hard work with the numbers we have."
