A large amount of farm feed is lost, as was the building that housed it, after firefighters were called out to a fully engulfed pole shed fire Saturday in the Town of Edson.
“It was a pole shed at a farm,” Boyd-Edson-Delmar Fire Chief Ron Patten said of the fire at 35681 County Highway MM. “No one was home at the time of the fire.
The property is registered to Wayne Zimmerman but lived at by his Zimmerman’s son, Patten said. The pole shed was approximately 54 by 100 feet and housed animal feed, which was heavily damaged.
Assisting agencies at the Saturday fire call in Edson included Stanley, Cadott and Thorp with water tenders, while Boyd-Edson-Delmar had a full response.
Complicating the fire response was high traffic on County Highway MM, as people wanted to see what was happening.
“There was so much traffic, people want to see what’s going on,” Patten said. “It’s so much easier when they just let us do our work.”
The road was closed by the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department as firefighters worked, crews staying on scene until midnight.
