Ringelspiel sees blue skies

The end of May has come and gone, with blue skies and warm temperatures greeting the annual Ringelspiel this year.

Beginning Thursday at the Boyd Legion Hall with the crowning of Miss Boyd, it continued through the Sunday parade.

As to Miss Boyd 2023 the Committee chose Delani Mercier, daughter of John and Tracey Mercier.

Boyd Princess this year this Mackenzie Stefanakos, daughter of Dayna and David Gossage.

Following up the Miss Boyd contest with Spectrum Carnival at Lotz Park Friday, Ringelspiel saw appearances by bands Another Road and Fourth Floor, a tent being erected on the little league baseball field for the purpose. With cheese curds, food by St. Joseph’s School and much more, the fun continued through the weekend, a parade at 1 p.m. featuring floats for Miss Stanley (Clarissa Witt), Miss Boyd, Miss Thorp, and Cadott royalty as well, along with numerous business and other entries.

Announcing the entries for the Sunday parade was past village president Randy Setzer, while the crowds took time to stand without prompting along Murray Street when the Legion and Legion Auxiliary came through.

Among the business entries in Sunday’s parade were local entrants such as Tolley’s Bowl and Bar and DD’s as well as Midwest Drilling and Zubell’s Sugar Shack. Thorp Area Fire came through with what appeared to be a new brush truck, while Stanley, Boyd-Edson-Delmar, and Cadott made appearances as well. The relatively newly joined Stanley and Boyd police service made an entry, as did St. Joseph’s School, the Stanley-Boyd marching band, and Representative Karen Hurd. The Northern Wisconsin State Fair came through on horseback, while Stanley-Boyd graduates who recently signed with the U.S. military came through in a Ford Mustang with the U.S. flag. Grand Marshals for the parade were Ron and Sheila Patten.

With blue skies and fair weather, the parade made its way down Murray Street towards Lotz Park, another Ringelspiel now completed.
